Incorporated in 1913, Homestead is the second oldest city in Miami-Dade County, located south of Miami between Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 31,909. Homestead is immediately adjacent to Florida City, and these two cities comprise the greater Homestead area. Some of the notable unincorporated communities in the area are Redland, Naranja, and Princeton.
