Located along the northern bank of
the Manatee River, the historic town of Parrish is
part of the unincorporated area of Manatee County,
although it is considered generally as a suburb of
the city of Bradenton, south of Tampa. The town is
known for its quaint neighborhoods and peaceful surroundings,
but in the last few years it has been experiencing
a construction boom.
More than 20,000 homes are planned or under construction
in the area north of the Manatee River. About 7,600
people lived in the Parrish area in 2004, according
to U.S. Census figures and by 2009 the population
is expected to grow to more than 9,800.
